Treatments

physiotherapy
Veterinary Physiotherapist, Millie Robinson will assess and treat your horse creating a tailored exercise regime focusing on your horse's mobility, stability, strength and proprioception to optimise recovery and reduce the risk of future injury.
infrared laser
Light Therapy System consists of red and infrared lights in specific wavelengths that penetrate skin and fur to reach the cells in the body. The light affects the cells to produce energy, which the body uses to recover and perform better.

pulse magnetic field therapy
Pulsating fields induce small electric charges in the target tissue, which may result in increases of cellular potentials. These may have been lowered due to physical injury. Establishing near normal voltages may re-establish nutrient flows into and out of cells to repair and regain normal function.
neuro muscular electrical stimulation
Neuro Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) works by creating muscle contractions in the specific muscle to stimulate muscle cells. It is artificially stimulating muscle fibres and activating the nerves, by pulsing the setting, allowing the muscle to contract and relax.

ultrasound
Therapeutic ultrasound is the use of sound waves which are passed through tissue creating certain physiological effects.
There are three primary benefits to ultrasound. The first is the speeding up of the healing process from the increase in blood flow in the treated area. The second is the decrease in pain from the reduction of swelling and edema. The third is the gentle massage of muscles tendons and/ or ligaments in the treated area because no strain is added and any scar tissue is softened.
tens machine
TENS is delivered from a small hand held device, that is powered by batteries, to the tissue via electrodes over conductive gel. This treatment technique is non-invasive and has fewer side affects that traditional pain relieving drug treatment options.

kinesiology taping
Equine kinesiology taping is a physiotherapy treatment and has various applications. It can be applied between competitive elements of many international equine events to speed recovery and improve endurance. In recreational riding, it alleviates discomfort from acute and chronic injuries.
equissage
Niagara Equissage Pulse® Digital, the latest in equine therapy, has been designed to help enhance your horse’s performance, improve its general health and well-being and making your horse feel better.

hydrotherapy
The water treadmill is a low intensity workout that makes it perfect for rehabilitation. The water treadmill encourages the horse to ‘sit’ behind, making them drive with the hind legs while taking the weight off the front legs. This helps to build up the muscles in the hind quarters and over the lumber area of the back.
In partnership with ESP Equine, we can provide regular trips to make this therapy available as part of your horses rehab.
